Rooted in the Afro-Indigenous tradition of Cumbia, Sistema Africanx-Indigenx will connect youth to a powerful and longstanding legacy of music, dance and community resilience through instruction in drumming, movement, musical structure, and ensemble practice. Sistema’s structure not only cultivates participants’ artistic skills, but also nourishes resilience, cultural identity, community relationships, and a sense of belonging in a culturally affirming space.
